Pediatric Plastic Surgery, Pediatric Reconstructive Surgery

Our pediatric plastic surgery and pediatric reconstructive surgery specialists at Children's Mercy Hospital provide diagnostic evaluation and treatment services for children with congenital and developmental anomalies of the head, neck and hand, offering a full range of reconstructive and cosmetic surgery procedures. Minor surgical procedures can be performed in the clinic under local anesthetic.

Why is the children's plastic surgery program at Children's Mercy the best children's hospital for pediatric plastic and reconstructive surgery?
Our pediatric plastic surgery staff takes a multidisciplinary approach to patient care. In addition to our pediatric plastic surgeon team, professionals from various disciplines are readily available to assist pediatric surgery patients including specialists in nutrition, dentistry, otorhinolaryngology, occupational therapy and genetics. Hear first-hand from a family whose daughter, Lexie, benefitted from the plastic surgery program at Children’s Mercy. Read Lexie’s story here.

How is the Pediatric Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery department at Children's Mercy Hospital different?
In 1997, our pediatric plastic surgery staff started treating infants and children with abnormal head shapes. Having seen more than 100 patients with this condition, our pediatric plastic surgeons and staff has successfully assisted more than 60 patients through the use of specially designed helmets. Examples like this abound, illustrating why Children's Mercy is a leader in children's plastic surgery.
