NICU Patient Family Advisory Council
The NICU Patient Family Advisory Council (PFAC) is made up of previous families that have been in the NICU at Children’s Mercy. The PFAC meets virtually through Microsoft Teams on the third Wednesday of the month at 5:30 p.m. Potential members must fill out an application and complete a background check from volunteer services.
Mission
The NICU PFAC serves to enhance family centered care in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit by identifying education, supportive programming, and creative activities for development and unit implementation; and provides the perspective of families and the community into the care experience.
Purpose
The NICU PFAC works on projects focused on NICU patients and families as well as provides feedback on policies and procedures that are presented to the PFAC from NICU staff. Parents Offering Parent Support (POPS)
Children's Mercy offers a program called Parents Offering Parent Support (POPS), a network of trained parent volunteers who mentor other parents through the challenges of their child's health condition.
