Children’s Mercy Research Institute Community Advisory Board
Community Engaged Research at Children’s Mercy Research Institute
The Community Engagement Research Team at Children's Mercy is partnering with patients, families, and community members to help advance research that contributes to the health and wellbeing of all children.
Our mission
Our mission is to ensure research is scientifically rigorous, patient and family centered, and responsive to the priorities of our community. We partner with patient and community partners on the CMRI Community Advisory Board (CAB) and Youth Research Advisory Board (YRAB) in all phases of the research process to ensure discoveries made today advance the health and wellbeing of our patients and community for years to come.
Why partner?
Community research partners on CMRI’s CAB and YRAB work collaboratively with research teams to provide input on research projects that impact patients and communities. Activities include:
- Identifying relevant community health priorities
- Developing patient centered and culturally appropriate recruitment processes
- Connecting community partners with academic researchers to promote collaboration
- Identifying community-centered data collection methods
- Reviewing grant applications for feasibility and community centeredness
- Analyzing and interpreting study findings
- Disseminating results to caregiver and community audiences
