Biostatistics and Epidemiology

About

The Biostatistics and Epidemiology Core (BEC) contributes to the mission of the Children’s Mercy Research Institute (CMRI) by carrying out original research, providing statistics education and research mentoring, and serving the scientific community locally, nationally, and internationally. Areas of expertise include Bayesian statistics, bootstrap methods, epidemiology, latent variable analysis, machine learning, methods for longitudinal and clustered data, and statistical genomics.

BEC personnel serve as lead investigators in their own lines of research and collaborate with investigators at Children’s Mercy Kansas City and around the world. As part of the CMRI Population Health Area of Emphasis, the BEC is housed on the second floor of the CMRI building along with Data Science & Informatics.
