Making an Appointment with Developmental and Behavioral Health (Text Only)
There are several steps between your initial phone call and first appointment in a Developmental & Behavioral Health clinic at Children’s Mercy. Here is an example of what a typical scheduling process looks like:
- Complete a new referral form
- Children’s Mercy reviews your screening form to decide the correct services for you child.
We will contact you:
- Get more information about your child:
- medical history
- school situation
- and symptoms
- Request certain documents from:
- you
- your child's school
- or pediatrician
- Let you know your child is on a waitlist for an appointment with us.
OR - Give recommendations for other services in the community.

- Some clinics require you to return more paperwork before you are scheduled for an appointment.
- For all other clinics, we will schedule you as soon as a spot is available. You can return any other paperwork we have requested before your appointment.

- What to expect the day of your appointment.
- Children’s Mercy will call you a few days before your appointment. We will preregister you for your visit.
