Kathleen Berg, MD, FAAP, Medical Director
Kathleen Berg, MD, FAAP is a pediatric hospitalist and Associate Professor of Pediatrics. She attended medical school at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center, followed by residency in pediatrics at University of South Carolina School of Medicine and fellowship in pediatric hospital medicine at Wake Forest Baptist Health. She joined Children’s Mercy in 2015.
Her quality improvement and research focus on provision of high value care to mitigate unnecessary health care exposures and cost.
Todd Glenski, MD, MSHA, FASA, Medical Director
Todd Glenski, MD, MSHA, FASA is a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist with an undergraduate degree in industrial engineering. He attended medical school at The University of Kansas, followed by residency in anesthesiology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham, where he also earned a Master of Science in Health Administration. He then completed a fellowship in pediatric anesthesiology at Children’s Hospital of Colorado.
Dr. Glenski joined Children’s Mercy in 2016 and has led multiple quality improvement initiatives with an emphasis on reducing the variation in patient care. He also serves as the Program Director for the Pediatric Anesthesia Fellowship.
Jarrod Dusin, MS, RD, LD, CPHQ , Director
Jarrod Dusin, MS, RD, LD, CPHQ is the Evidence Based Practice Director. He attended undergraduate school at Kansas State University followed by graduate school at Kansas University Medical Center with degrees in dietetics and nutrition.
Jarrod joined Children’s Mercy 2003 as a pediatric dietitian, working in the areas of neonatology and oncology. In 2014, he joined the Office of Evidence Based Practice after volunteering as an Evidence Based Practice Scholar for five years.
Andrea Melanson, OTD, OTR/L, Program Manager
Andrea Melanson is an Evidence Based Practice Program Manager. She attended undergraduate school at the University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She completed graduate school at the University of Kansas Medical Center, earning her Doctorate of Occupational Therapy. She worked in adult rehabilitation for three years before joining Children’s Mercy in 1993, where she developed her area of expertise in brachial plexus injuries and orthopedic upper extremity injuries.
In 2015, Andrea became the Education Coordinator for the Physical and Occupational Therapy department and assisted with evidence based practice, research, education and onboarding of new employees. She transitioned to the Evidence Based Practice department in 2021.
Megan Gripka, MLS (ASCP) SM, Program Manager
Megan Gripka, MLS (ASCP) SM is an Evidence Based Practice Program Manager. She attended undergraduate school at the University of Kansas and completed the Clinical Laboratory Science Program at Kansas University Medical Center. She worked in the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at the Medical University of South Carolina and Saint Luke’s Hospital before joining the Clinical Microbiology Laboratory at Children’s Mercy in 2003.
During Megan's time in the laboratory, she participated in clinical and research studies and contributed to multiple publications and posters. She supervised the laboratory from 2013-2021 and used evidence-based medicine routinely to assist with development of protocols and procedures. She transitioned to the Evidence Based Practice department in 2022.
Kelli Ott, OTD, OTR/L, Program Manager
Kelli Ott is an Evidence Based Practice Program Manager. She attended the University of Kansas Medical Center and received her Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy. She later returned to the University of Kansas Medical Center and earned her doctorate in occupational therapy. Kelli worked in a variety of settings which included inpatient, outpatient and academia, and had the opportunity to work with children and adults.
As an occupational therapist, Kelli developed an interest and expertise in working with individuals diagnosed with neuromuscular and neurogenerative disease, and gained an appreciation for being a part of a collaborative interprofessional team. She joined the Evidence Based Practice department in 2022.
Kori Hess, PharmD, Program Manager
Kori Hess, PharmD is an Evidence Based Practice Program Manager. She completed undergraduate school at Creighton University with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science, followed by graduate school at the University of Missouri Kansas City (UMKC) with a Doctor of Pharmacy. Dr. Hess joined Children’s Mercy in 2010 as a clinical pharmacist and worked in multiple areas including main inpatient pharmacy, outpatient infusion services, neonatal intensive care, and investigational drug services. She also volunteered as an Evidence Based Practice (EBP) Scholar for seven years before fully transitioning to the Evidence Based Practice department in 2023.
Stephanie Schnebelen, Office Coordinator
Stephanie Schnebelen is the Evidence Based Practice Office Coordinator. Stephanie has her Associate in Business Administration. She has worked in the healthcare industry for over 15 years in various settings, including clinical and hospital settings.
Stephanie worked for Children’s Mercy for 3 years as Administrative Assistant in Graduate Medical Education and 2 years as Office Coordinator for the Rehab & Beacon clinic. She joined the Evidence Based Practice department in 2023.
EBP Scholars
The Evidence Based Practice Scholars are a highly valued group of staff who volunteer their time to assist with reviewing literature for the hospital. They are an integral part of developing clinical pathways throughout Children’s Mercy that not only standardize care but also enhance patient outcomes.
The EBP Scholars program was initiated in 2009 with 7 Scholars and has evolved to an average of 15 staff per year from all locations within the organization.
