Non-Medical Student (and Allied Health) Observerships

Non-medical college students and high school students exploring a career in medicine or allied health can seek an observer experience at Children's Mercy.

At Children's Mercy (Adele Hall, Kansas, and other locations), an observership is considered to be a short-term experience of one-half to one full-day of shadowing a licensed physician supervisor with the main objective for the applicant to get exposure and appreciation for the role of the physician and the specialty. The physician supervisor may not be a resident or fellow. The physician must have full medical staff privileges. The student observer will not have any direct patient contact or responsibility for patient care. The student observer will not earn academic credit for the observership experience.
