Fellows

I am originally from England but moved to the United States in 2006! I completed undergrad at Cornell University in Ithaca, N.Y., where I majored in Biological Sciences with a concentration in Human Nutrition. I went to medical school at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield, Ill.; I then went on to complete my pediatric residency and chief residency year at Rainbow Babies & Children's Hospital in Cleveland, Ohio.

During my fellowship interview day, the fellows and faculty were all so welcoming and eager to share their passion for hospital medicine and their individual interests. I was really impressed by the many opportunities to participate in medical education scholarship at Children's Mercy during fellowship and am excited to be able to complete my Master’s in Health Professions Education at UMKC during the next few years as well.

Outside of work, I like to explore Kansas City and visit new restaurants and breweries. I am a big fan of Peloton, baking, watching sports, reading and traveling!

I am originally from Springfield, MO where I grew up and attended college at Drury University. I moved to Kansas City to attend medical school at the University of Missouri – Kansas City (UMKC) and happily stayed to complete my pediatric residency at Children’s Mercy.

During my residency training at Children’s Mercy, I was very quickly drawn hospital medicine as a career interest. The resident teaching team structure, patient acuity and broad patient exposure coupled with the experience I had with faculty members solidified my interest in pursuing a PHM fellowship; and I was thrilled to stay at Children’s Mercy to complete my fellowship training.

I am interested in advocacy as well as identifying and decreasing/eliminating health disparities in hospitalized children. Outside of work I love to run, enjoy time outdoors, attend sporting events (Red Friday is the best day of the week – go Chiefs), and explore new restaurants and places around the city with my husband and son.

I am originally from Sioux Falls, S.D. I guess 18-year-old me thought the South Dakota winters were too harsh and I started my slow move southward. I attended Creighton University (Go, Jays!) in Omaha, where I majored in Spanish and Biology. I stayed at Creighton for medical school and then came to Children's Mercy for my pediatric residency.

I was instantly drawn to the breadth and the teaching team structure of hospital medicine. The hospital medicine faculty at Children's Mercy were a major reason I chose to pursue the fellowship and why I was thrilled to ultimately stay as a fellow.

I am interested in medical education and the experiences of limited English proficiency patients and their families in the inpatient setting, especially Spanish-speaking patients. I'm looking forward to using this time to explore my interests. Outside of work, I love exploring Kansas City with my wife, good beer, running and live music.

I am originally from Olathe, KS. I completed an undergraduate degree at Pittsburg State University, where I majored in Biology. I attended medical school at University of Kansas. I completed my pediatric residency at Children’s Mercy, and am thrilled to stay here for fellowship!

The PHM division is providing me with exceptional clinical experience as well as strong mentorship to grow as a clinician and researcher. My scholarly interests include advocacy work, social determinants of health, and advancements in behavioral health care. I am excited for the opportunities at CMH that will allow me to continue exploring these interests throughout fellowship.

Outside of work, I enjoy reading, cooking, baking, and exploring Kansas City.
